About HotLZ:
The term Hot LZ was used in Vietnam to describe a helicopter landing zone that was under
fire — a place where you didn’t just land, you hit the ground ready. That’s the spirit behind this site.
HotLZ.com is a space for honest conversation about American politics, culture, and the realities people
live with every day. It’s not about party lines or echo chambers — it’s about grounding ideas in lived
experience, real history, and an understanding that democracy only works if people stay engaged.
This isn’t a news site or a platform for outrage. It’s a place to talk about what matters, challenge
assumptions, and make sense of what we’re going through as a country — together.
-
Reflective
Because sometimes, the truth lands in a hot LZ.
-
Personal
It’s my way of staying in the fight — not with a weapon, but with words.
-
Hopeful
We may not always agree, but we can still land in the same zone.
About Me:
My name is Don Dugger. In May 1968, I was deployed to Vietnam with the 124th Signal Battalion,
4th Infantry Division, where I served in the battalion signal maintenance platoon. I’ve spent
most of my life working with Unix systems — including decades developing software for
communications and mobile networks.
HotLZ.com is a personal project I’ve had in mind for a long time. The term “Hot LZ” comes from
my Vietnam experience, and it reflects how I still see things today — fast-moving, high-stakes,
and often under fire. This site is about politics, truth, and giving voice to ideas that matter.
I’m not a journalist, politician, or influencer — just someone who believes in informed, open
dialogue and still has something to say.
